2.Your choice, and how to change it
The first time you visit we ask whether we may set analytics cookies. “Accept all” allows them; “Essential only” does not, and the site works exactly the same either way. Your answer is stored in a cookie of its own (ia_consent) for twelve months so we do not keep asking.
You can change your answer whenever you like with the button on this page or “Cookie settings” in the footer. Choosing “Essential only” after having accepted removes the analytics cookies from your browser straight away. You can also clear or block cookies in your browser’s settings; blocking the essential ones will stop sign-in from working.
We do not currently respond to the Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signals, because the banner already defaults to essential-only until you say otherwise.
3.Essential cookies
These are set without asking, because the site cannot sign you in, protect its forms or remember your cookie choice without them. They identify a session, never a person, and none of them is used for tracking.
| Cookie | Set by | Lasts | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| ia_consent | ImagineAcademy | 12 months | Remembers the cookie choice you made in the banner so we do not ask again, and so the site knows whether it may set the analytics cookies below. |
| authjs.session-token (or __Secure-authjs.session-token) | ImagineAcademy | 30 days, renewed while you use the site | Keeps you signed in after you continue with Google. Holds a signed token that identifies your session; it is never readable by scripts. |
| authjs.csrf-token (or __Host-authjs.csrf-token) | ImagineAcademy | Session | Protects the sign-in and sign-out forms against cross-site request forgery. |
| authjs.callback-url (or __Secure-authjs.callback-url) | ImagineAcademy | Session | Remembers the page you were on so we can send you back to it after Google sign-in. |
| ia_view_as | ImagineAcademy | Session | Set only in the browsers of academy staff who use the "view as" support tool. Members never receive it. |
4.Analytics cookies
Set only after you choose “Accept all”. Ours answer one question: which link or campaign brought a member to the Academy. We record the landing page, the referring site and any utm_ tags in the address, once per visit, against a random browser identifier. If you later join with an email address, that visit is matched to your membership so we know which campaign it came from. Nothing about you is stored in the cookie itself, and it is not shared with advertisers.
| Cookie | Set by | Lasts | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| ia_anon | ImagineAcademy | 12 months | A random identifier for your browser, so that if you arrive from a campaign link and later join, we can tell which campaign brought you. Contains nothing about you. |
| ia_seen | ImagineAcademy | Session | Stops us recording the same visit more than once as you move between pages. |
| YouTube embed cookies | Set by Google; see Google’s policy | Lesson and replay videos are embedded from youtube-nocookie.com, which sets no cookies until you press play. Once a video plays, Google may set its own cookies under its privacy policy. |
The YouTube row is the one third party. Lesson and replay players are loaded from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain, which sets no cookies until you press play. After that Google may set cookies under its own privacy policy, which we do not control.
6.Changes
If we add a cookie or change what one does, we update the table above and the effective date at the top of this page, and, where a new cookie needs your consent, we ask for it again.
